This is a review by my 10 year old son. It was like extracting teeth at first! I got him going by asking some questions …
Mum: Did you finish the book?
Son: Yes, and I enjoyed every second of it.
Mum: Can you tell me about it?
Son: Frankie does something majorly wrong at school and as punishment he can’t go away with his friend, Drew. Because they are working, his parents send him to stay with his Grandparents. He was really bored. His Grandad spends all of his time in his shed.
Everything changed the day his Nanna asked him to go and get his Grandad from the shed.
Mum: What did you like about the book?
Son: I wanted to know what happened next.
Mum: Was there anything you didn’t like?
Son: It would have been good if Drew had come into the story again. Like if they had gone to his house when they went back to the future and seen him as a disgusting baby!
Mum: Who was your favourite character?
Son: Frankie and Grandad. You couldn’t have one without the other. They were like real people together/ It was also funny that Grandad was the selfish one.
Son: Will there be another book in the series soon?
Well Peter, will there? We saw there is a book called Best Ever Pranks by Frankie and Drew. It doesn’t sound like another Frankie Fish and Grandad adventure but I guess there is one way to find out!
The book was never far from my son on holiday. He hasn’t really been reading a lot lately so I hope this is a sign of a book phase!
I actually had to say ‘Put your book down. Your burger is getting cold!’
Have you read this book? We would love to know what you thought of it.
